Prior to joining Searchlight in 2018, Mr. Ackermann worked as a Partner at Apollo Management, L.P. in London where he oversaw the Illiquid Opportunistic Credit business in Europe and served on the Global Illiquid Opportunistic Credit Investment Committee. He additionally served on the firm’s European Management Committee. While at Apollo, Mr. Ackermann focused on a wide range of restructuring and distressed investments across the TMT, retail, and industrial sectors, among others. Prior to Apollo, Mr. Ackermann worked at Goldman Sachs on the bank’s distressed investing desk. He began his career in investment banking at Greenhill & Co in 2002 as an Analyst. Mr. Ackermann received a BSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Markus Hunold (London) joined KKR in 2013 and is a Director of KKR, focusing on the Special Situations funds and portfolios. Prior to joining KKR, Mr. Hunold was a member of the principal investment area of Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he invested across industries in private equity and principal debt transactions. Mr. Hunold started his career in finance at Citigroup in the mergers & acquisitions group. Mr. Hunold graduated from the European Business School Oestrich-Winkel (Germany) and the University of Hong Kong.
Stephen Phillips is Co-head of the European Restructuring team and is based in London. He has extensive experience in advising banks, bondholders, insolvency office holders and corporate groups on restructuring, corporate and banking matters. Having begun his career in Asia advising creditors affected by the Asia Currency Crisis, he returned to London to advise bondholder committees on High Yield / Fallen Angel bond restructurings in the early to mid-2000s. During the global financial crisis Stephen’s experience focused on leverage finance restructurings and bank restructurings.
Stephen’s principal recent engagements include advising the Ocean Rig group in its restructuring of USD 4bn debt through a Cayman scheme of arrangement, the special committee of the board of Seadrill Partners (SDLP) in respect of a transaction which insulated SDLP from the restructuring efforts of its parent company, Seadrill Limited, and the trustee of the High Yield Bonds of Pages Jaunes which was connected to the restructuring of the indebtedness of the Solocal group.
Carlo joined Greenhill in 2014 to expand Greenhill's Financing Advisory Practice in EMEA. For the previous 8 years he worked at Lazard in the Restructuring Group, most recently in NewYork
Carlo has represented debtors in over 20 closed transactions in Europe and the U.S., in a wide range of corporate financeactivities including out-of-court and in-court restructuring, rehabilitations,distressed merger and acquisitions and debt and equity financings
Carlo holds a M.Scin Finance (CLEFIN) and a BA in International Economics and Management (DIEM)from Bocconi University
Rob joined Debtwire Europe in 2007 to cover the European high-yield market and went on to become Managing Editor, overseeing its stressed debt and restructuring, leveraged loan, high yield bond and sovereign coverage. Based in London, he specialised in the chemicals sector but has broad experience of reporting on all aspects of the high yield market. He was instrumental in the launch of Debtwire’s ABS product, and more recently in the development of its sovereign debt coverage.
Previously, Rob reported for two years on the European securitization market at EuroWeek, where he covered the development and subsequent collapse of the sub-prime RMBS market.
Rob began his career as a chemical engineer, initially working as a research technician for ICI Explosives in South Africa, and subsequently in the European industrial wastewater treatment sector. On the foundation of his broad industrial experience, he completed a specialist degree for business journalists and has been covering debt capital markets since.
