Paul Mullen is a partner in the leveraged and acquisition finance team at Hogan Lovells in London. Acting for both lenders and borrowers at the top end of mid-market sponsor-backed financings, Paul has been particularly involved with the development of the direct lending market in Europe, advising lenders on unitranche and other direct lending products (including first loss/second loss, second lien, and PIK) as well as banks providing working capital and other facilities alongside the funds. Recent deals include advising Ares Management on the financing of the acquisition of Wireless Logic Group by Montagu Private Equity and Permira Credit Solutions on a unitranche and super senior facility for the purposes of acquiring the Capital Economics Group.
James Ranger is Managing Director & Head of the Mid Markets Team in Acquisition Finance.
The team supports a wide range of private equity sponsors through providing financing for leveraged buy-outs across the UK and Western Europe. Acquisition Finance also has a wider mandate to support (non-sponsor owned) private or public companies wishing to raise leveraged or sub investment grade financing.
The team provides a range of financing products including senior & super senior loans, hybrid Unitranche facilities, underwritten debt and high yield bonds. The team can support companies across a broad range of sizes and sectors.
Anil joined 3i as a Director in 2007 and is responsible for 3i's Banking Team within the Private Equity division. This team has a broad remit and is responsible for the firm's relationships with its financing institutions and provides specialist banking advice spanning all key financing stages associated with new and portfolio assets across 3i Private Equity. This includes raising primary acquisition finance, advising on the management of leveraged capital structures and preparing exit financing. Anil has 15 years of banking experience, having started at Lloyds Bank Corporate Banking in 1996. He subsequently worked for Dresdner Kleinwort from 1999, where he held various positions in Credit Risk Management, Structured Finance and Corporate Finance & Advisory. Anil studied at Sussex University and holds a BA in Economics and is an Associate Member of Corporate Treasurers.
Gurjit is a Partner at Marlborough Partners and was one of the founding members. Gurjit has advised a number of sponsors and portfolio companies on a variety of engagements including LBO financings, refinancings, recapitalisations, add-on acquisitions, staple financings, leveraged debt buy-backs as well as financial restructurings and M&A transactions. During his tenure he has successfully advised on more than €9bn of debt financings across leveraged loans, high yield and private debt financings as well as both company and creditor-side restructurings in excess of €10bn. Prior to Marlborough, Gurjit was at Houlihan Lokey in London working across the Financial Restructuring, Debt Advisory and M&A product groups. Gurjit graduated from Imperial College London with a B.Eng. (Hon) in Materials Science and Engineering.
Ms. Moore is a Managing Director in the Corporate Credit Group at Guggenheim Partners focusing on European direct lending origination and is based in the Group’s London office. She specialises in European loan origination and private equity transactions.
Prior to joining Guggenheim, Tara was the Head of Debt Finance in London for Barclays, where she focused on the coverage of mid-market Financial Sponsors and the origination of both corporate and private equity primary loans. Tara also headed a number of project teams within the bank that developed the Barclays unitranche offering and initiated the sale of the bank’s leveraged term loan book in 2015. Prior to Barclays, Tara’s background is anchored in Leveraged Finance having worked in teams at Nomura, WestLB and Societe Generale (SG).
Ms. Moore holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Banking & Finance) degree from University College Dublin (UCD) and a Masters of Business Studies (Finance) from the Smurfit Graduate School, University College Dublin (UCD).
With 13 years of private equity and leveraged finance experience, Mariana leads a team of eight primary reporters focusing on breaking news across the European leveraged loan, high yield and direct lending space. Mariana and her team uncover upcoming LBOs/debt issuers, underperforming credits and trade ideas, and produce analytical articles on company earnings, new issuance and market trends.
Before joining Debtwire, Mariana was assistant editor and reporter at Mergermarket, covering M&A in the TMT sector with a strong focus on private equity. She started her journalism career at the Evening Standard as part of a journalism award and holds a first class BA (Honours) degree in journalism from University of the Arts London.
